Historic Calendar Series

Our calendar project (begun in 2003) has been one of our most successful fund raisers, having generated over $66,000 and allowing us to develop the Lapeer County Heritage Museum.  In addition, the calendar has allowed us to share our extensive collection of historical photographs and information with the community in a format that goes beyond the walls of the museum.  That has generated additional interest in the history of the area among many people who have seen the calendars and has resulted in more visitors to the museum.

The 2003 calendar, the first in the series, contains pictures and captions chronicling the history of Lapeer County in the 1800’s. From 2004 to 2010 each calendar is filled with pictures and captions focusing on a ten year period in the history of Lapeer County from 1900 to 1970. The 2011 Calendar featured Centennial Farms in Lapeer County; the 2012 calendar featured Rural Schools of Lapeer County. The 2013 calendar recounted the history of Oakdale from its origins as The State Home for Feeble Minded and Epileptics. The 2014 calendar featured Historical Churches of Lapeer County and the 2015 calendar features Lapeer County in the Civil War.
